Celiac Diet
Dermatitis herpetiformis is the rash associated with celiac and considered diagnostic in and of itself.
Here is a discussion about it on celiac.com:
Here is a great website on SD that I hope you will find helpful. I do think that some celiacs are more prone to SD b/c our immune systems are a bit different than others. Since SD may be considered a yeast ergo fungal overgrowth, I have found a combination of therapies to keep my rash at bay. I personally use Nizoral shampoo on my face and hair, then follow up with a lotion mix that I make myself. ( I got the idea from a lotion my dog uses when he has hot spots, lol! it worked for him, so I started using it!)
Here is what I use on him, you may be able to find it to take a look at it. I just took out the hydrocortizone (which I sometimes use and sometimes do not) , but the rest is pretty close to what I use :
p.s. I second the idea of getting your thyroid checked if you have any other symptoms like that. I know this must be terribly frustrating for you! Good luck!

I immediately thought “dermatitis herpetiformis”, but then I looked at the best info I could find on it: and discovered it doesn’t match the presentation.
However, as that article says “other skin conditions may also be associated with celiac disease”.
It’s possible that your ****** skin, being open to the elements, is coming into contact with some airborne allergen. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but do you live near a flour mill? I used to live near one myself, and it was in the middle of a residential area.
If my suspicion is correct, you could try using barrier cream on your face, and see if that helps.
Celiac Disease
I can’t say that it’s definitley related, but my husband had
very stubborn dandruff and scaling on his face between the
eyebrows as long as I had known him (30 years). His face
cleared up since going gluten free, but it took about a year.
He uses a shampoo for the dandruff, it is called Suave
Ocean Breeze. It seems to control this type of dandruff
when none of the regular dandruff shampoos helped. We
use it as a body wash too. It contains sea algae extract
and vitamin E. Maybe it would help you too. It’s worked
for a couple of other people we know.
I have skin trouble when I forget to take my daily multivitamin.
The lack of B vitamins shows up fast. Are you taking any
vitamins? Maybe that would help. Fish oil might help with
moisture too. Make sure they are gluten free though.
As far as dairy or other allergens, you could try avoiding them
for a month or so and see if it helps. If things start to clear
then you might be on the right track.
